إحتفلت قيادة القطاع الشرقي بالعام الجديد 2017 مع أبناء الموظفين العاملين ضمن اليونيفيل، وقد حضر الإحتفال حوالي 40 طفلاً مع أهاليهم. تخلل الإحتفال توزيع هدايا على الأطفال إحياءً لقدوم المجوس الثلاثة لتقديم الهدايا الى الطفل يسوع.

استهل الإحتفال بكلمة ترحيبية من قبل قائد القطاع الشرقي الجنرال أرولدو سايينز، وقد أشار أن قوات اليونيفيل في لبنان تشعر بالراحة والسعادة على الرغم من بعدهم عن عائلاتهم وذلك بفضل التعاون والعلاقة الوثيقة بين اليونيفيل والسكان المحلليين. كما عبرعن شكره وامتنانه لجميع الأشخاص الذين ساهموا في الحفاظ على الإستقرار والسلام ضمن نطاق قرار مجلس الأمن التابع للأمم المتحدة 1701.

وقد استمتع الأطفال بالعروض الترفيهية التي قدمتها قيادة القطاع الشرقي وخاصة بعرض الساحر والكلاب البوليسية. وفي نهاية الإحتفال استلم جميع الأطفال هدايا متنوعة من ألعاب ومستلزمات مدرسية، وقد عبر الأهالي عن سعادتهم وامتنانهم لليونيفيل على ما تقدمه من دعم لأبناء المنطقة وخاصة على تنظيم هذا الإحتفال.

UNIFIL Sector East Headquarter celebrated New Year 2017 with the children of its civilian employees. Around 40 children visited the base along with their parents. This occasion was especially celebrated with the gift distribution ceremony to the children as the remembrance about the occasion of offerings by the three wise persons to the child Jesus when he took birth around 2017 years before.

The event started with the welcome address by the SECEAST Commander Brigadier General Aroldo Saenz. He says “the UNIFIL personals are comfortable, happy and well off here in Lebanon, despite being away from the families in the home country just because of the collaboration, cooperation and alliance of the civilian employees with us”. He extended his warm regards and sincere thanks to everyone for their assistance to bring up peace and stability in the country under the frame of UN mandate 1701.

The children enjoyed the magician show followed by the most funny and interesting display of thrill by the military dogs. At the end of the ceremony the children were gifted with lots of gifts containing toys, sports items, school material and etc. Parents felt very happy with the gesture of UNIFIL personals and they thanked UNIFIL for their continuous support and also applauded the sincere efforts for celebrating the occasion so cherished.

The event culminated with the group photography and the relish refreshment.
